Forum Rules
What follows is a list of rules which users of our forum are expected to follow. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in account suspension or, in extreme cases, cancellation. Please note that whilst these rules are regularly reviewed and updated, Forum Administrators and GeekPlanetOnline management will always have the final say in any cases of dispute. All decisions in this regard are final and not open to discussion.
Rule #1: You Do Not Talk About Fight Club.
Rule #2: You Do Not Talk About... Sorry, No Smoking.
Rule #3: Be Respectful.
These forums are for everybody to enjoy. Discrimination and bigotry of any kind, including (but not limited to) racism, sexism, homophobia, or predjudice due to disability, nationality or religion, will not be tolerated. Please note that this does not preclude discussion of related topics: we simply won't stand for intolerance.

Rule #4: The Moderators' Word is Law.
If a request is made by one of our Moderators or Administrators, or a reprimand is issued, please don't argue. They are here to ensure that everybody has a good time -- don't make their job more difficult.
Rule #5: No Spamming or Post-Boosting.
Nobody is more worthy to use our forums than anybody else: all geeks are created equal. The ranks and post counts are just there for fun, not to inform elitist behaviour. To this end, there should be no need for post-count boosting, and it will not be tolerated.
Rule #6: No Unapproved Commercial Advertising
This is not a commercial advertising board -- if you want to advertise a commercial product then please contact the editor in regards to paid advertising. Any announcements or adverts not cleared by GeekPlanet staff will be deleted, and most likely their poster banned. For the avoidance of doubt: if you charge for your product, talk to us first (our paid advertising rates are quite cheap!). If your product is 100% free (e.g. fanzines, Podcasts, open source software, comics, etc.) then please feel free to post about it in the forum sections reserved for such things ("Personal Projects", for example).
Rule #7: Multiple Accounts Are Prohibited.
This should be self-explanatory.One account per person, simple. Anyone found to be operating multiple accounts will have all of their accounts blocked and yes, we can trace your IP. Don't be stupid.
Rule #8: No Txt spk or L33t.
If the above sentence makes no sense to you, move on -- this rule is clearly not aimed at you. For everyone else, please note since our non-English speaking posters will be using English to communicate with the rest of you, it's hardly fair to post in a garbled mess of letters and numbers. If you can speak English, *type* English -- text speak and l33t speak is banned.
Rule #9: If You Want a Row, Take It Outside.
GeekPlanetOnline is *not* the place for private feuds and flame wars. We have a zero-tolerance approach to this. You have been warned. Repeat offenders may find themselves banned.
Rule #10: Do Not Post Offensive Material.
This works in tandem with rule #3, but just to be clear -- no porn. No propaganda. No offensive images. No incitement to hatred and absolutely no off-site links to the same. We don't want it here, and it won't last long if it's posted (and neither will your account).
Rule #11: Try to Follow the Honour System.
Despite the stark rules above, we don't want to monitor you like some Orwellian regime. Play fair by us, we'll play fair by you -- so if you see other posters breaking any of the rules, give them a gentle reminder before reporting them to a Mod. To paraphrase the deity of your choice: "Don't make us come down there"!
