Just wanted to say thanks for playing the harsh industrial version of what is love. I'd never heard of power noise before. I have to say it's not to my taste, but it's a faithful cover whilst still being done the band's own way, so while I don't particularly like it, it's not a bad song if you get what I mean.

Did you/can you get to see Frozen Planet? Son loved it so we got it on DVD and he got the book as well. Lots of stuff about antarctica and you could see that some of the icebergs touched the sea floor.

Your rant about record companies is one I've done many times over the years. The phrase I always use when it comes to this stuff is 'It's Promotion Not Piracy'. Sums the whole thing up for me.

I loved the dark track of the week but can't remember the name of the band! Can you post & I can then search for their album to buy it if poss. I love the sound of dance music but mainstream dance has meaningless twaddle for lyrics as a rule. This track had lyrics I could relate to, plus I loved the juxtaposition of up tempo beat and downbeat lyrics.

I don't suppose you could get the songwriter on as a guest sometime?

And I'm with you 100% on the music industry rant. The fact they are out to fleece all & sundry means they assume that's what the general public do.

The band is Ien Oblique. The song is Slaves of Pleasure (Kamikaze Remix).

You can get it free from their official website, www.ienoblique.com/

You will see a download button on the right hand side that reads, "Get It Now."

As for getting him to guest on the show I'm not so sure. I'm more familiar with his partner, Juan, of Cellmod.

Dubstep first became mainstream here in the UK when an artist called Burial got nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. It's the biggest award for Best Album in the UK and has a lot of respect. Everybody was shocked when he got nominated in 2008, but from then on everyone knew what dubstep was.

One of my dear podcasting friends actually has a monthly Dubstep podcast. it's called the Dubstep Zone and you can find it at petecogle.co.uk.

The comic book Fables by Bill Willingham is actually awesome. It's my favourite continuing comic book ever. There were rumours a few years ago that a TV adaptation was on the way and the rights were bought by ABC. Once Upon A Time has been accused of being a rip-off of Fables, but Willingham himself doesn't see it that way. OUAT has yet to make it over here and I'm intrigued, but part of me would LOVE to see some kind of adaptation of Fables. When it's finally revealed who the Big Bad is it was jaw-dropping, both in a I-did-not-see-that-coming way and also in an of-course-it-was-them way.

I'm surprised that the US has only just started having 'Turn Off Your Mobile' ads before films. We've had them over here for about 5 years.
Most of them are paid for by the mobile company Orange who spend a lot of their promotional budget in cinemas. Most notably with 'Orange Wednesdays' where users of Orange can get 2-for-1 tickets on Wednesdays.
The theme of most of these adverts is 'Don't let your phone ruin the movie' and a lot of them are tie-ins with actual films. The best one recently was for 'The Muppets' and despite having seen it about 50 times in the cinema I still love it.

Your review of 'The Hunger Games' movie was pretty close to mine. I agree that they used shakycam too much, though it was effective in certain places like the first cornucopia battle, and I too didn't see Haymitch as looking like Woody Harrelson, though I thought he was perfect casting. I disagree about Lenny Kravitz however. For me he seemed out of his depth. I really enjoyed the film.

I didn't much like the story of 'Rango' either, although I think it deserved it's Oscar for the gorgeous animation style.

Your review of Castle made me remember how dismissive you were of my problems with the romance aspects of Chuck. Turn about is fair play and now you're feeling the same way about a different romance.

Despite being a proud Englishman, I'm with Dave. Cadbury's Creme Eggs make me want to throw up.

I gradually and slowly catching up with my Insideoutcasts, just wanted to give some feedbacks, in no particular order.

The Justice League are actually quite strict when it comes to letting people join. Their rota is often quite strict and membership can actually be a big issue, they're more internationally recognised and accountable than the Avengers have been over the years so they do actually have better standards for getting in.

The Legion of Super Heroes, also have standards. They're the ones who were approached by Arm Fall off Guy among other shitty super heroes. They do turn away some of the really pathetic super heroes, though for some reason they still let Bouncing Boy into their ranks among others who's powers aren't that stellar.

In short, the Justice League tends to have higher standards and better screening than the Avengers, though the Avengers themselves do have standards, Hawkeye had long proven himself as a great hero over the years, whilst his origins and abilities may be simple, he has earned his spot time after time. Though I would agree he does look somewhat ridiculous next to a guy in a robot suit and a Norse God of thunder, but then most people would.

In regards to Cyberpunk, two anime you may want to check out if you get the opportunity are Serial Experiment Lain and Summer Wars.

Serial Experiment Lain looks at life and reality and it's relation to the online world. Summer Wars looks at a future where the world uses a social network for the majority of it's communications and interactions then looks at the collapse of that network.

Still loving the show, still loving the Dark Tracks, keep going guys, you're not alone.

Finally caught up on my mammoth Insideoutcast backlog, with every spare moment filled with Brandi & Dave goodness.

As ever, I've been struck by the wonderful variety of toepics you guys cover, and also by the fact that we seem to have had the same cinema-going experience over the past couple of months

Two points to raise from my catch-up:

The dating of Easter is not down to pagans but those lovely Jewish people. It's based on the timing of the Passover, which according to John's Gospel, is when Jesus was crucified (the the other 3 disagree, creating more problems for those dear fundamentalists). The world-wide church continues to be split as to when Easter should be celebrated, with Eastern Orthodox churches having a different date to those that originate in the Latin West.
With entertaining feedback like that I bet you've really missed me huh?

To make up for it, my second point is this clip:
Religion is a bit like knitting; basically good but responsible for some very bad things.

hello! Listening to the latest as I type. So pleased to hear you enjoyed the Big lebowski. Half of me would love to get a t-shirt with "nobody fucks with the Jesus" on it. In purple (of course) but the other half of me can't help but think of the trouble it would cause given that I'm a vicar's wife!
