Hard to keep up with all the titbits that DC are releasing- clearly they're making the most of the hype.

Discovering that Birds Of Prey will still exist post-reboot was a relief, and I really like Black Canary's new cosy. The fact that Secret Six is ending is sad in a sense, since it's been awesome throughout, but I guess there are only so many stories you can tell with such a dysfunctional, dangerous group of villains, who vaguely act as heroes sometimes.

The real shocker is discovering Barbara Gordon, the original Batgirl, is ceasing to be Oracle and returning to the spandex togs, sans wheelchair.
Very interesting interview about the implications between the writer Gail Simone and a fan who used a wheelchair for 14 years here: www.newsarama.com/comics/gail-simone-dic...d-oracle-110609.html

Well all the details are out and Power Girl, Zatanna and Batgirl, the three books I've been getting since they started 2 years back are all ending. Very disappointed as the they were great reads, I found them easy to get into as a new DC reader. Before the reboot was announced I had been reading up on other books and considering picking up a fourth.

I don't really like the look of any of the new 52 titles apart from All Star Western. It was Palmiotti who followed up Geoff John's reboot of Power Girl with a great 12 issue run that started me off with DC and I know his Jonah Hex stories are highly praised so I really like the look of that book. The only other one I may be interested in is Catwoman, as Judd Winnick took over Power Girl. I didn't really like him at first but I've warmed to his writing over the last couple of issues. I would pick up Justice League Dark, at least to keep reading zomething with Zatanna, but I don't like the sound of their retooling of Constantine.

They also seem to have let go of a bunch of really good writers and artists and the only new talent my inexperienced comic knowledge picked up on was Rob Liefeld .

Yeah, Liefeld is an 'interesting' choice for Hawk & Dove: www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/detail...2234&mode=search (no pouches at least, though he still has a very hazy grasp of anatomy)

I'd heard good things about Power Girl, so I guess many will be sorry to see that run end.

Really looking forward to seeing how Batgirl shapes up.

Just scrolling through the list. Some random thoughts...

Justice League International

I started reading JLA with Grant Morrison's run a while back, so I'm not really keen on JLA teams that aren't comprised of the big hitters, but I might check out a couple of issues, but I think it's safer to say I'll probably stick with the main Justice League title.

Mr Terrific

When I used to be a regular comic reader it was titles like this that would come out and I'd think they had cancellation written all over them. I hope I'm wrong.

Green Lantern

One of the books I'm most looking forward to. I stopped reading GL while Kyle Rayner was GL. Not because I didn't like it, that was just when I stopped reading. What's happened since just seemed too much to bother with. I'm not sure about Green Lantern Corps and Green Lantern: New Guardians though.

Seeing as Kyle Rayner is leading the New Guardians again I'm wondering how much of a reboot this is? Or has he just been re-created from the ground up?

And then there's Red Lanterns... I guess I'll check out an issue, but I don't want to get tied to too many Lantern books.

Batman & Detective Comics

It's Batman. I'll get them.

Batwing

I won't be getting this. So this guy was from Batman Inc? So does that mean that's still actually in continuity? The also mention Batman Inc in Batman & Robin #1, which I will probably take a look at.

Batgirl & Batwoman & Nightwing

Batgirl and Batwoman are probably where I'll draw the line, but I might checkout Batgirl to see how they're handling Babs. Nightwing is a given. I used to love the run Chuck Dixon did when he forst got his own series.

Red Hood & The Outlaws

I like the idea of dysfunctional super teams, so I might give this a look, but I'll be surprised if it has real legs.

Team Books

They seem to really be going for it with team books. Teen Titans has never really been my thing, and Justice League Dark doesn't really appeal, but Stormwatch looks like it could be interesting.

O.M.A.C

Looks more like a Marvel character than DC.

All Star Western

Might just be different and fresh enough to be worth a look.

Action Comics

I'll probably give Superman a miss, but Action Comics by Grant Morrison should be worth a look. And I love the cover.

Overall I'm surprised at how little grabs me. And it seems to be that this doesn't look like a proper reboot of the universe, but more like just a streamlining. I'd actually have preferred a full proper reboot myself. But I guess it's doing it's job; I am actually interested in downloading a few books, which is something I probably wouldn't have done a few months ago.

Yeah, Batman Inc is mentioned in connection with a couple of titles, as is Grayson's time as Batman, so we're definitely not looking at a complete reboot here.
If they end up relying on too much of what's occurred in current continuity they're going to fail in appealing to new readers, which I thought was the point of the exercise.
Time will tell I guess.
