Just listened to the first episode, I like it though I doubt I will re-watch the series. I think it's still being repeated on CBS Action or such and it's quite dire most of the time, especially with Adverts breaking up the "action" every 15 minutes.

Ad breaks now are longer and there are more of them compared to when TNG first aired. Is this messing with the feel of the episodes, do you think? Or are we Brits over-used to watching it ad-free?

I watched the original TV series through a combination of ad less BBC watching and VHS tapes. So I'm not used to watching it with ads at all. What the ads do, for me at least, is drag out slow episodes and dull the excitement of episodes which are better paced. Having said that, the series is clearly designed to work with adverts as it breaks the story up into neat chunks. The main issue I have is with the frequency and length of ad breaks dragging out a show which often drags anyway.

The ads don't really break the series for me as the narative flow isn't broken, especially as the crew tend to repeat themselves when ad breaks are due to occur or you get a "Captain's Log" to bridge the gap.

So, no, for me. It doesn't change how the show feels, it just makes it more of a chore.

I've just listened to the latest Podcast and I'm surprised how much of the episodes I remember after twenty years.

Have to say though that "Let's get anal about spaceships" has to the most tragic thing ever recorded on a podcast. You sort of know what your in for when Anne-Marie appears to lose the will to live half way through announcing the section. I've heard that bit twice now and it was still a surprise that she was able to finish the sentence.

Timing was good. It finished five minutes before the end of my train journey...easily long enough to add the Wonder Woman theme.

Quick question, what is Andrew saying in that song after the line "And if you're lucky, you don't have to wait for..." I swear it sounds like Buffy, as in The Vampire Slayer!

Mr Boss- I can only reassure you that as soon as the Wonder Woman theme becomes relevant, I'll include it. And as for your criticism of my quality jingle-making skills, I can only say

Mr Rogers- As best as I can tell Adam's lyrics read as follows:

"Star Trek The Next Generation,
you're loved throughout the nation,
you're my favourite show,
(I've seen every episode).
You're lucky, you don't have to wait for buses,
you just get into to the transporter,
and off you boldly go."

Mr Org, you have misunderstood. The jingle is excellent. Good to hear a bit of Bowie and I beleive Mrs Org clearly captured what she thought of the following segment perfectly.
